Restoration Programs Matter!
At the heart of our mission is the belief that every young person deserves dignity, guidance, and a chance to build a prosperous future. One of our most powerful youth restoration programs called "Pockets" was inspired by a moment that touched hearts across the nation.
During a news report from Chicago’s South Side, cameras captured a young Black man being escorted to a police car after a carjacking. His pants, hanging loosely and barely held by a belt, began to fall as he walked. Then something remarkable happened. The police officer gently reached down and pulled the young man’s pants up by the youth's pocket!.
In that simple act, the officer restored a measure of dignity to a youth who could not yet see his own worth. It was a moment that spoke volumes: even in challenging times, our young people deserve compassion, respect, and the belief that they can rise again.
Our youth restorative program "Pockets" is built on this very principle. The program creates spaces where youth in crisis can discover their value, rebuild their confidence, and reclaim their future through guidance, and restorative community workshops and events that lead to emotional regulation and healing.
