During a news report from Chicago’s South Side, cameras captured a young Black man being escorted to a police car after a carjacking. His pants, hanging loosely and barely held by a belt, began to fall as he walked. Then something remarkable happened—the police officer gently reached down and pulled the young man’s pants up.
In that simple act, the officer restored a measure of dignity to a youth who could not yet see his own worth. It was a moment that spoke volumes: even in failure, our young people deserve compassion, respect, and the belief that they can rise again.
